What got us started
Mercury Labs is building an Algorand platform by and for sports lovers the world over! We want to build an exciting, fun, welcoming community where sports fans can share their love for sports and engage in sports betting, sport NFT markets, sport event transactions, and other crypto-native sport services. To build an exceptional platform, we've had to consider and address the issues of sports fans.
The sports companies of today which allow sports betting, sports collectible or sports ticket marketplaces, and other financially-related sports services impose a gamut of issues upon customers:
Locking of funds within the business's system — businesses seek to keep customers, customers' money, and customers' collectibles within the business's system, sometimes by imposing fees or limits before allowing money to exit their system. The value of funds stuck within business systems can be damaged by outside forces, such as inflation, and are unable to be used in other financial products.
Slow and/or expensive transactions.
Security issues of the business itself which can lead to customers losing their funds.
Difficulty proving authentic ownership of rare items or attendance of exclusive events due to fraud which may not be easily recognizable.
Mercury Labs aims to entirely eliminate or mitigate these issues.
