What we're building
The safety and security of customers' funds and assets are the first priority with our products. To that end, we will be auditing all smart contracts before their official launch on Algorand's mainnet.
Here are some of the products we are working on in the order of their prioritization:
Mercury Labs will launch permissioned sports gambling pools mediated through smart contracts. Participation in a pool will require KYC for regulation and legal compliance. An oracle will be leveraged by the smart contracts to ensure timely, trustworthy, and fair execution of the smart contracts. Mercury Labs will collect a fee during your participation in sports betting.
A smart contract is an autonomous piece of code running on the blockchain itself and is not centralized in any Mercury Labs hardware. The smart contract will act as a custodian for any funds deposited into it, holding the funds until the code executes to disburse the funds. These funds will not exist in any Mercury Labs infrastructure; Mercury Labs will not have access to the funds you deposit and cannot assist in retrieving funds you'd like to withdraw from the smart contract.
Again, Mercury Labs will have thorough audits conducted on all smart contracts before their official launch to ensure the security of the code and funds locked into the smart contract.
Effectively, Mercury Labs is charging you a fee for the service of creating user-friendly, legal, regulation-compliant sports betting on the blockchain!
Based on our current roadmap, baseball and basketball sports betting with Mercury Coin will be launched with our first product iteration. American football, hockey, soccer/football, rugby, cricket, esports, chess, and more will be launched after.
Additional currency options will become available some time after launch — bet using the currencies you prefer!
Participants will be able to play with friends and the public.
You'll be able to see game statistics, player scores, and eventually much more!
Mercury Labs will be launching commemorative sports art NFTs on an already-existing Algorand art NFT marketplace. These will be fun art pieces to allow our community to enjoy and share their love of sports. For example, these art NFTs could depict a victory or defeat, an unusual happening at a sports event, or a memorable half-time show.
Eventually, we'll be launching an NFT marketplace to represent exclusive ownership of a sports moment.
Transactions on our NFT marketplace will be conducted strictly with Mercury Coin.
Sports fans will be able to search, exhibit, and trade their NFTs on our platform!
Mercury Labs will be offering sports game and event ticket transactions (arena events, private events, etc). We aim to be a leading way consumers purchase their tickets with an emphasis on fraudless, cheap, and near-instantaneous transactions. Transactions for game and event tickets will be done strictly with Mercury Coin.
Utilizing our NFT marketplace, you'll be able to exhibit your attendance of events, which will also double as a record of all the events you've been to over the years!
